Pear|son-Sym|bol ['piəsn-; nach dem amer. Chemiker W. B. Pearson (*1921)]: eine in der anorg. Chemie zur Kennzeichnung allotroper Modifikationen benutzte, dem Stoffnamen oder der Formel in Klammern nachgestellte alphanumerische Notation, bestehend aus kursiv gesetzten ↑ Gittersymbolen (P, S, F, I, R) u. Kristallsystemsymbolen (c, h, t, o, m, a) sowie der Zahl der Atome in der Elementarzelle, z. B. Diamant = Kohlenstoff (cF8).
